Arman Kirakossian’s Candidate’s Thesis, which he successfully defended in 1981, was devoted to the British policy on Western Armenia and the analysis of public opinion in Great Britain in mid-1890’s. It was published in Yerevan in 1990, in Russian language and in a more expanded form. During his research activities in the Armenian Academy of Sciences, Dr. Kirakossian received Certificate of Senior Researcher of the USSR, and in 1983, he was awarded Certificate of Appreciation by the President of the Armenian Academy of Sciences Prof. Victor Hambardzumian, who cited his outstanding research work. Dr. Kirakossian continued to study the British policies toward the Armenian Question, with greater emphasis on a longer period of time during which those policies were implemented. Expanding his previous work and having researched contemporary documents and materials in government and private archives in Yerevan, London, Moscow, and Athens, Dr. Kirakossian authored a new book in Armenian, “Britanakan divanagitutyuny ev arevmtahayutyan khndiry (1830-akan tt. – 1914t),” or British Diplomacy and the Western Armenia (1830’s – 1914), which was published in Yerevan in 1999. Also in 1999, he defended his doctoral thesis at the Armenian Institute of History of the Armenian Academy of Sciences, and received the scientific rank of Doctor of Sciences in History. The English version of the book was published in October 2003 in the United States, by the Gomidas Institute, under the title British Diplomacy and the Armenian Question: from the 1830’s to 1914. During his academic career, Dr. Arman Kirakossian has published more than 100 articles for scientific publications, general media, information bulletins, and Encyclopedia, as well as brochures and monographs on such subjects as the policies of the United States and European powers on the Armenian Question, the persecution and massacres of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire, the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, and other issues. Dr. Kirakossian’s last book, The Armenian Massacres. 1894-1896. U.S. Media Testimony, was published by the Wayne State University Press in 2004. The same publisher is preparing to publish soon the second volume of the book, The Armenian Massacres. 1894-1896. British Media Testimony.
