Arman Kirakossian’s main hobby and interest is composing and recording music. Although he does not have musical education and cannot read musical notations, Arman Kirakossian was greatly influenced in late 60’s by youth movement and British rock music to start playing piano and composing music by age 14. In 1974, in collaboration with his friends Ashot Poghosyan, Sergey Azizian, Eduard Zuloyan, and Armen Khachatrian, Arman Kirakossian formed the band Idea at the Yerevan Polytechnic University. Idea, despite having existed for two years only, staged numerous concerts and gained widespread popularity among students and youth in Yerevan. One of Arman Kirakossian’s songs from that period, Tzaghik (Flower), which put to music a poem by Armenian poetess Silva Kaputikian, won the top award at the Youth Spring and Political Song festivals held in Armenia in those years.

Although Arman Kirakossian mostly recorded music at home and played company of friends only, he recorded his songs with Hayk Grigorian – Artashes Kartalyan band and the Athens-based Nor Dar band headed by Kora Mikaelian, in 1982 and 1998-1999, respectively. Recently, one of Arman Kirakossian’s songs entitled Akhr es inchpes (How Is It Possible For Me), based on a poem by Hamo Sahyan, gained popularity in Armenia and was sung by young singer Anna Khachatryan. Arman Kirakossian composed several dozens songs and compositions.
